What is Microsoft 365 Copilot?
Microsoft 365 Copilot is an AI-powered assistant built into the Microsoft 365 apps you already use, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. It’s designed to help you work faster, uncover deeper insights, and create more impactful content by combining your everyday tools with AI.
Over the last twelve months, more than 30 million people have used Copilot to reshape how they work—whether that’s drafting documents, summarizing information, or exploring data in new ways. In short, Copilot helps you reimagine what’s possible in your day-to-day work without changing the tools you rely on.
How are people using Copilot in their daily work?
People are using Microsoft 365 Copilot to streamline many of their routine and strategic tasks. Common use cases include:
- Moving faster: Drafting emails, documents, and presentations more quickly, then refining them instead of starting from a blank page.
- Uncovering deeper insights: Asking Copilot to analyze information, highlight key points, or surface patterns that might be hard to spot at a glance.
- Creating greater impact: Turning ideas and raw notes into clearer, more compelling content that’s easier for colleagues and customers to understand.
With 30+ million users already engaging with Copilot over the past year, organizations are using it to rethink how work gets done across roles—from individual contributors to leaders.
Why is Microsoft 365 Copilot important for the future of work?
Microsoft 365 Copilot matters because it helps organizations rethink everyday work rather than just add another tool. By embedding AI into familiar Microsoft 365 experiences, it supports people in:
- Reducing time on routine tasks so they can focus more on strategic work.
- Exploring information differently by asking natural-language questions and getting synthesized answers.
- Collaborating more effectively with clearer summaries, drafts, and insights that teams can react to and refine.
The fact that over 30 million people have already used Copilot in the last twelve months shows that AI is moving from experimentation into everyday work. It’s less about replacing how people work and more about helping them reimagine what they can accomplish with the same tools they use today.
